Charleston, SC — In low country hurricane region, making sure homes are not only beautiful but able to withstand extreme tropical storms too is the ultimate goal. And for those reasons, the Metal Roofing Alliance has named a coastal home with custom metal roof fabricated by Jet Metals using Drexel Metals’ coil as its Best Residential Metal Roofing Project competition winner for the third quarter of 2024.
The home, located just 20 minutes from downtown Charleston in an area called Daniel Island, demonstrates how gorgeous architectural style also can achieve extreme resiliency by using quality materials made to last. The project team chose a metal roof
with a stormy gray metallic finish called Weathered Zinc as the perfect crowning touch for the home’s beautiful architecture.
As one of the home’s designers, Jenny Butler of Director of Marketing & Design at Shelter Custom-Built Living, states, “A metal roof was selected to limit the architectural color palette to three materials: brick, wood siding, and the gray metal color of the windows, doors and roof.”
The Drexel Metals system gives the home maximum curb appeal while offering a minimalistic yet distinctive design throughline by providing a single profile shape and a unified color palette across the entire residence, including matching the windows, doors,
gutters, parapet caps and trim wrapping. With its PVDF finish, interlocking design and heavy-duty fastening system, the energy-efficient metal roof also will protect the home from moisture, corrosion and the damaging effects of high winds and
storm-caused leaks for many years to come. For complete details about the Drexel Metals’ Daniel Island residential roofing project, visit https://metalroofing.com/news/metal-roof-checks-all-the-boxes-for-daniel-island-residence/
“Thanks to the thoughtful selection of quality materials and adhering to installation best practices, this project is a great example of how to best combine beauty and performance to ensure great performance for the long run,” said MRA Executive
Director Renee Ramey.
With this phase of the competition now closed, the search is on for MRA’s Best Residential Metal Roofing project for the fourth quarter of 2024. Open to U.S. and Canada homeowners, contractors, installers and manufacturers, MRA officials will select
