Materials from Varco Pruden Buildings were used to create the Lanz Hangar in Eugene, Oregon. Ordell Construction LLC was the Varco Pruden Builder for the 9,288 sq. ft. facility and the
designer was SSW Engineers; both firms are also located in Eugene.
Lanz Hangar was selected as a winner in the Transportation category in the 2019 Varco Pruden Hall Of Fame presentation.
The private hangar house a single private jet. It also includes several offices, a full kitchen, a meeting room, and a lounge with a fireplace.
Varco Pruden supplied its Rigid Frame system for the skeleton of the structure, along with roof and wall panels. The walls are clad with the Panel Rib profile in Cool Egyptian White and the roof is topped by the SSR profile formed from Galvalume-coated
steel. Varco Pruden's PrisMAX SL skylights bring light into the building.
According to information from Ordell Construction, "The biggest challenge was the installation of a 75'-wide hangar door with very little roof clearance. As with most problems, the key to solving this was clear and respectful communication between the
engineer, door manufacturer, and Varco Pruden. Everyone worked hard to find the best solution, and while it's a very tight fit, the door fits perfectly!"
The owner was very pleased with the new facility: "I love the skylights and the architectural feature of the exposed metal frames. Every part of the building is beautiful, and I couldn't be happier with how it came out and the incredible job done by Ordell
Construction."
