As hangar door manufacturers go, ICON Doors is a relatively new competitor. But the experience of those behind the company helped ICON become the supplier of choice for an impressive new hangar development at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Missouri.
ICON provided the 80' x 20' and 58' x 20' hydraulic doors for the first hangar in what is intended to be a multi-unit project being developed by Aviation Development Group. The hangar was built by Hufton Construction and features two electrically operated ICON hydraulic hangar doors.
That ICON was chosen to supply the doors speaks volumes because value and quality are two characteristics being marketed to prospective customers. The pitch seems to be resonating as the Phase I is sold out and Phase II is now accepting reservations. The development is supplying a mix of corporate and executive/box units designed to accommodate everything from small single-engine planes to mid-size corporate jets.
Other amenities of the development include gated access, fluorescent lighting, 200 amp electrical service, electrically operated hangar doors with man doors, insulated roofs and walls, water and sewer connections and cable access.
