Eastern Corporation, an Architectural Metal Systems (AMS) authorized Roofer, developed a new 17,243-square-foot research and media facility for Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, Alabama. The new building is a two-story facility, which replaced the school’s library built in the late 1960s.
The project is noted for the unique contrast between the building’s brick and precast façade and Loc Seam reflective white roof panels from AMS. The white metal roof panels highlight the many hips and cuts on the roof which add to the building’s unique appeal. Eastern Corporation furnished and installed all sheet metal trim utilizing AMS metal with a Kynar finish, which provide greater reflectance and emissivity to meet energy compliance regulations.
For their work on the project, Eastern Corporation was awarded the Roof of the Year award in the 2014 American Buildings Company Excellence in Design Awards. The American Buildings Company Excellence in Design Awards program recognizes Builders and Roofers for their innovation in design and metal systems construction.
