The 60,000 square foot Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research campus in Greenville, SC is a strategically focused automotive and motorsports research facility. The Center for Emerging Technologies makes up one of five technology focused buildings on campus, all of which are designed to optimize innovative and collaborative research environments.

Featuring architectural metal products from CENTRIA, the building is LEED® certified Gold and allows for 14 percent energy savings compared to inefficient buildings. The project includes office, administrative and laboratory space for the transportation, technology and energy sectors and was designed to complete the technology chain from laboratory to consumer.

CENTRIA’s Formawall® Dimension Series® is one of today’s most preferred metal wall systems because of its combination of performance, aesthetics and sustainability. CENTRIA's patented advanced thermal and moisture protection (ATMP®) technology allows Formawall Dimension Series to provide superior all-around performance. The insulated metal panels include a factory foamed-in-place core, minimizing insulation gaps, along with a thermal break between the face and the liner. The panels also offer superior weather resistance by utilizing pressure equalization along the length of the horizontal joinery.

Available in both horizontal and vertical panels, Formawall Dimension Series offers a wide range of lengths, thicknesses, reveals and profiles, along with integrated wall components such as the Formavue™ window. This window system reimagines integration and is designed to provide a high performance, thermally efficient window interface that aligns perfectly with Formawall Dimension Series.

The Concept Series® single-skin panels have concealed fasteners and a common-lock joint that allows the panels to be interchanged for interesting custom aesthetics. The sleek and innovative aesthetics of CENTRIA’s Concept Series panels were an integral part of the architect’s vision, contributing to the beautiful façade of the building. Ecoscreen® Perforated Screenwall not only integrates with the other CENTRIA panels used, but also provides an airy aesthetic to blend the building into its surroundings.

The architect was LS3P Neal Prince of Greenville, SC. The CENTRIA products dealer/installer was Steel Clad of Greenville, SC. The contractor was Sherman Construction of Piedmont, SC. The project was completed in July 2011.
