S-5! Metal Roof Innovations, a leading authority on metal roof attachment
technology, saw its premier snow retention solution selected for installation on a new state-of-the-art elementary school project in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
ColorGard ® by S-5!, a proven snow guard solution
for solution for standing seam metal roofs, is mounted on the eaves of more than 18,000 square feet of Petersen’s Tite-Loc Plus roof panels at the new Latrobe Elementary school, located 50+ miles outside Pittsburgh.
Petersen Aluminum Corporation, based in the Chicago area, has been a distributor of S-5! products for nearly 30 years. Brock Associates, an authorized Petersen dealer--and S-5! distributor--located in Pittsburgh, formed the metal roof panel profiles in their local shop.
"As a pioneer in the metal construction industry, we have had the privilege of working alongside Petersen since the beginning in 1992 and Brock Associates some years later,” said S-5! Founder and CEO, Rob Haddock. “We are proud industry partners
and look forward to continuing working together on outstanding projects such as this innovative school.”
Roofing contractor Pennsylvania Roofing Systems faced an unusual challenge on the project as the acoustical deck for half the building was running in the wrong direction and required 16-gauge hat channels over that portion to ensure the correct clip attachment.
Brock Associates was contacted during the initial design phase to help address the challenges and determine a solution.
Brock Associates recommended Petersen’s Tite-Loc Plus roof panels and ColorGard by S-5! as a snow retention solution. Manufactured from high-tensile, aircraft-quality aluminum and extensively tested for load-to-failure results, ColorGard provides
safety to the school, controlling roof snow migration and dramatically reducing the risks associated with rooftop avalanches.
The sudden and unexpected release of snow from a roof can be intense, posing a serious threat to property and passers-by. ColorGard provides safety while complementing the look of the school’s unique Marquis Orange roof, with a clean appearance
and perfect color and finish-matching, all designed to last the life of the roof.
"We always recommend ColorGard by S-5! as the most reliable snow retention product of its kind on the market,” said Metal Products Coordinator, Lisa Olson of Brock Associates. “With unsurpassed holding strength, S-5! ColorGard is a tested,
trusted and engineered product that performs for the life of the roof.”
Latrobe Elementary School was designed by Monroeville, PA-based Axis Architecture with an intentional Swiss chalet theme to mirror the feel of the numerous surrounding ski areas. The firm also designed the school district’s new athletic complex,
which features a similar multi-tiered profile.
