The Mammel Hall College of Business Administration building is a significant source of pride at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and not just because it’s the first building on campus to earn LEED® Gold Certification.

The $34 million facility – featuring a variety of architectural metal products from CENTRIA - serves as a striking gateway to the main campus, while providing state-of-the-art instructional facilities.

A nearly five-story-high atrium dominates the main entrance, linking the building’s many different uses and providing a space to encourage collaboration between the students and faculty. The new facility also houses contemporary classrooms, a 200-seat auditorium, multiple open areas, improved faculty offices and laboratories for investment science. The design exterior is a distinctive, curved L-shape, making it one of the most unique buildings on campus. Outside, a circular plaza provides a picturesque place for students to congregate and relax.

The new facility makes it possible for the College of Business Administration to effectively keep up with its strong enrollment, in addition to helping the college foster and expand its relationships with representatives from the local and international business communities.

The extreme flexibility of CENTRIA metal wall panels made it possible for the building team to achieve a softly curved, uninterrupted, modern appearance.

Formawall Dimension Series PE, CENTRIA’s factory foam-insulated architectural wall panel system with a unique vertical seal plate, created a varied combination of articulations, shadows and sight lines that helped the architects realize their design vision. Featuring the innovative pressure-equalized vent drainage channel, Formawall Dimension Series PE has a continuous air seal that is not compromised by the seal plate venting, providing a powerful second line of defense against water intrusion. The highly insulated panels also helped with the successful execution of the design’s contemporary feel with panels in a warm champagne gold and crisp medium gray. Formawall Dimension Series is the only wall system that combines advanced thermal and moisture protection technology (ATMP®) in a single panelized component.

The project also features Concept Series, a concealed fastener profile that adds visual interest to the building with its dynamic asymmetrical form.

The building design called for extensive daylighting, which made Formavue Windows the perfect solution since they integrate seamlessly with Formawall Dimension Series and eliminate the need for metal receptors. Formavue Windows also feature the same dry-seal joinery as Formawall, and the same engineered and proven advanced thermal and moisture protection, making installation quick and easy and ensuring building efficiency.

Finally, in keeping with Mammel Hall’s ambitious sustainability goals, both Formawall Dimension Series and Concept Series are Cradle to CradleCM Certified Silver.
