Just as the new Avis Goodwin Community Health Center in Somersworth, NH consolidates the operations of several former buildings into one, the building's roof is an amalgamation of products with a job-site manufactured metal roof from Englert Inc. certainly the most prominent.

The 32,000 sq. ft. building offers medical, dental and mental health services and features 27 exam rooms, five dental operatories, a prenatal program and a WIC nutrition program on the main floor. There's 12,000 sq. ft. of administrative space on the second level. The building was designed by Warrenstreet Architects of Concord, NH and took 18 months from groundbreaking to completion in 2011. Incorporating many sustainable concepts and products, the building's features are comparable to what would typically be found in a LEED Silver-certified project. 

The facility is slab-on-grade construction with a cast-in-place foundation and a structural steel frame. The walls are wood-framed. The roof is a combination of SIPS panels, TPO flat roofing and Englert Series 1300 standing seam roofing. The 11,600 sq. ft. of panels were fabricated from preweathered Galvalume-coated steel. The sloped roofing enhances the design not only in a traditional sense, but also in an inconspicuous way, hiding the building's four large, rooftop-mounted HVAC units.

MC Contracting of Pepperell, MA was the metal roofing installer. Hutter Construction Corporation in New Ipswich, New Hampshire was the general contractor. Englert Inc. is based in Perth Amboy, NJ.
