In April 2012, Igloo Erectors finished their work as fabricators and installers of the ALPOLIC aluminum composite material (ACM) panel system on the new Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. The new state-of-the-art facility replaces a 47-year-old structure approximately one-third the size. The ACM to which the new health care facility owes its good looks was manufactured by Mitsubishi Plastics Composites America of Chesapeake, VA, and supplied by VICWEST.

The new hospital features improved, up-to-date emergency and outpatient departments and is sized to serve the growing and aging population of Fort Saskatchewan and its neighboring communities. The facility includes 38 acute care beds, an obstetrical program, radiology services, a laboratory and in-house pharmacy.

ALPOLIC ACM was chosen for the project because of its superior paint finish, flexibility, and flat look without oil canning issues. Featured on the exterior walls and main entrances, ALPOLIC’s “superior performance and precise color matching capabilities” enhance both the integrity and aesthetics of the structure. Five different custom colors of the 4mm-thick, FR-cored ACM was utilized on the complex: SPR Green, GRN Green, BLA White, BRR Red and BEE Beige.

The hospital was designed by IBI Group Architects of Edmonton, Alberta and completed in April 2012. The general contractor was Ellis Don Construction. Igloo Erectors is located in Calgary, Alberta.
