Sustainability with the anticipation of growth was the reason behind the newly-constructed La Joya ISD Child Nutrition Center and Police Station in La Joya, Texas. Insulated metal panels from MBCI are featured on the new complex.

One of the project’s main focuses was to provide a center that would support and maintain the food services required by the state while educating children on proper nutrition. The new Police Station will also enable increased productivity with a bigger and more organized facility to operate within.

The project used more than 5,900 square feet of MBCI’s 24-gauge eco-FICIENT® Grand H insulated metal wall panels. The varied colors included 5,100 square feet of panels in Brite Red, 707 square feet in Snow White and 152 square feet in Slate Gray. The panels were produced in 30" widths. The lengths varied to achieve a mosaic look.

One goal the school district wanted to achieve was low cost maintenance along with improvements to energy efficiency. Incorporating eco-FICIENT® panels allowed La Joya ISD to not only keep costs low but provide durability the buildings needed.

David Monreal of Gignac & Associates, Harlingen, Texas, designed the project and Renee Cortez with the Laredo-based Leyendecker Construction was the general contractor.
