Integrated Roof Solutions Inc. of Franklin, TN completed a retrofit re-roofing project for the Select Inn hotel located in Murfreesboro, TN. The hotel’s existing exposed fastened R-Panel roof was in need of replacement after servicing the building for over 30 years. In lieu of removing the metal panels and exposing the building interior to the elements, Greg O’Brien, president of Integrated Roof Solutions, recommended using a retrofit sub-framing system manufactured by Roof Hugger Inc. of Lutz, FL.
O’Brien stated that “Roof Hugger was chosen as a cost saver when compared to removing the existing R-Panel and as a measure so as not to disrupt an operational hotel and restaurant business.”
The 10,000 square foot project was completed in 10 days from the start of sub-framing installation. After relocating the existing rooftop HVAC units for better serviceability and to accomplish a penetration free new roof, O’Brien’s crews began installing Roof Hugger’s factory-notched sub-purlins and the new Union Corrugating Company 24-gauge ML200 standing seam.
Pacific Blue was selected as the color for the factory formed 16” wide by 2” tall metal roof with a 180-degree mechanically locked seam. 4,000 lineal feet of Roof Hugger’s standard stocked Model “C” sub-purlins for 12-inch on center ribbed metal roofs were shipped to the jobsite in three business days from receipt of O’Brien’s order.
O’Brien added, “I have seen Roof Hugger over the years at many trade shows and always thought it would be a great application. However, we had never come upon the right project scenario for using the product. The Select Inn project was exactly the right fit for a Roof Hugger application, as a cost saver, substrate stabilizer, limited operational interference and time saver.” He also praised the Roof Hugger team for their expert technical support and quick turnaround. Metal roof retrofit and re-roofing is approximately 80% of Integrated Roof Solutions’ business.
