Guests staying at the renovated Westin Downtown Cleveland have the best of both worlds when it comes to a visitor experience. Just two blocks from the Lake Erie waterfront, a half mile from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and within walking distance to Cleveland’s burgeoning social scene and three major stadiums, guests get to experience the best that the city has to offer by simply stepping right outside of the hotel’s front door.
If guests are too weary from touring the city and choose to stay within the hotel, they are greeted with the luxurious amenities that have become synonymous with the Westin brand. The building features more than 1,500 pieces of locally curated artwork from Northeast Ohio. The hotel also includes a 24/7 WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio equipped with 12 cardio machines, strength training equipment and free weights. Guests are treated to a variety of dining options including Urban Farmer, a modern Cleveland steakhouse with Midwest food traditions.
With the newly opened Cleveland Convention Center, the city was set to receive a steady stream of out-of-town visitors. An influx of people required more hotel accommodations, and the retrofit of the Crowne Plaza into the Westin achieved the level of upscale lodging that Cleveland was looking for.
CENTRIA’s Versawall Insulated Metal Panels proved to be the perfect product to outfit the $70 million project in the lakefront town. Versawall panels provide outstanding weather resistance and a thermal break with their double tongue-and-groove joinery and factory-applied air and vapor sealing that provides better insulating values to help guard against the driving lake effect snow that comes in off Lake Erie each winter.
Marous Brothers Construction was able to install the lightweight insulated metal composite panels during frigid conditions—as well as in the region’s warmer months—because they could install them through any season. The lightweight Versawall Insulated Metal Panels also assist in reducing framing costs.
The subtle limestone hues help bring the hotel’s 22 stories to life among the rest of the Cleveland city skyline, and Versawall’s insulated metal panels have concealed fasteners that give a clean, uninterrupted appearance with long, sleek sight lines that mirror the luxurious feel of the building’s interior.
Versawall insulated metal panels are environmental product declaration (EPD) certified by UL Environment. EPDs rely on Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to provide information on a number of environmental impacts of products over their life cycle.
The architect/contractor/installer was Marous Brothers Construction of Willoughby, Ohio. The CENTRIA products dealer was Vulcan Metal Sales Inc. of Belle Vernon, PA. The hotel was completed in 2014.
