Floline Architectural Systems LLC supplied cladding used on three curved canopy structures for Grace Church in Dumfries, VA.
The canopies included a porte-cochere and two used over walk doors. The porte-cochere canopy measures 23’ wide x 38’ long. The walk door canopies are 12’ wide x 6’6” long and 12’-10” wide x 5’ long. The framing and bottom side of the panels were field painted to match the finish on the top side of the panels.
Approximately 1,100 sq. ft. of crimp-curved Floline 900 panels were supplied, using 24-gauge steel with a Kynar Silver Metallic finish. Floline manufactured the curved roof panels, curved trim, gutters, and downspouts.
It was noted that benefits of specifying the Floline 900 panel include strength and spanning capability. Support spacings on the porte-cochere were up to 6’ o.c. The 900 panel in 24-gauge easily spanned this while still achieving high allowable uniform load values.
The designer was Helbing Lipp Ltd. Architects Engineers of Vienna, VA. The general contractor and installing contractor was R.E. Daffan Inc. of Manassas, VA. The project was completed in June 2012.
