Firestone Building Products supplied the 22-gauge Pre-Weathered RHEINZINK featured on the exterior of the chapel at St. Francis De Sales High School in Toledo, Ohio. Built in 2005, the chapel was designed by The Collaborative Inc, also of Toledo.

St. Francis de Sales is one of the nation’s leading private, all-male, college-preparatory high schools. The chapel, with its 2,400 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK material, was constructed in accordance with a plan to unify the campus and blend it with the surrounding neighborhood. Goals specific to the chapel itself included expanding the worship space and making it more of a campus centerpiece.

“It is right that the chapel be at the very center, the very heart of our school building,” said the school’s president at the time of the project’s completion. “We hope the chapel will be a place where our students grow closer to God and, consequently, grow in holiness and goodness.”

In all, some 2,400 sq. ft. of wall panels formed from RHEINZINK were utilized on the project. Handling the installation was C.L. Rieckhoff Co. Inc. of Taylor, MI.

The project’s general contractor was The Lathrop Company of Maumee, OH.
