Alexan Cityview in Bayonne, NJ is a 544- unit apartment complex recently built on the site of an old federal shipbuilding and repair yard. In addition to being in close proximity to the light rail systems that connects with subway transportation to Manhattan, and major highways including the New Jersey Turnpike, the complex’s residents enjoy spectacular views of lower Manhattan.
Cityview’s 10,000 square foot clubhouse was the first structure built on the property and originally served as the rental office for the complex while the four-story residential structures were being constructed. With most of the construction now completed, the clubhouse still has a small area for rental sales but serves as a recreation and activity center for apartment dwellers who can use its indoor pool with showers, a half court basketball gym, billiards room, game room, workout center and lounge area.
Topping the one-story clubhouse is an Englert Series 1300 standing seam metal roof. It was chosen for its aesthetics, durability and resistance to the salt air of the New York Harbor which is only yards away from the building. More than 14,000 square feet of Colonial Red roofing was needed to complete the project. Handling the roof installation, which required a high degree of skill because of the complexity of the roof form, was FM Home Improvement, Inc. of Denville, NJ.
