Using VMZINC QUARTZ-ZINC® and ANTHRA-ZINC® sheets, Raimond SAS fabricated custom zinc flat lock panels to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the ATYPIK collective housing building in Paris, France.

Designed by Atelier 2A Christophe Cheney, ATYPIK is part of the redevelopment program for the banks of the Seine in Issy-les-Molineaux. All VMZ products used display both visual and functional purposes. Cheney selected ANTHRA-ZINC and QUARTZ-ZINC for the North facade of the building. These two warm, dark surface aspects create a contrasting visual appeal with the glass envelope of the offices located opposite of ATYPIK.

Vertical VMZ Interlocking panel systems were used on the attics to distinguish them from the horizontal panel systems on the lower floors. The thin, VMZ Interlocking panels create uniformity on the facade from top to bottom. However, the panel system also offers an interlocking attachment with concealed fastening—providing a rainscreen system for the building. Select windows were expanded on one jamb with an ANTHRA-ZINC®plane; each jamb highlights the building’s lintels and sills.

ATYPIK contains 159 apartments. Approximately 56 meters tall, the 18-story building beautifies the Paris landscape with its height and original envelope. The blend of colors and zinc format defines the identity of “ATYPIK,” while ensuring urban continuity between the commercial activity zones of the Quai des Chartreux and the banks of the Seine.

“’The use of VMZINC®QUARTZ-ZINC and ANTHRA-ZINC gives ATYPIK unforgettable rhythm and singularity” said Daniel Nicely, managing director at VMZINC® -US. “It was an honor to be a part of the construction of a building that will continue to be admired by its residents, and the public, for years to come.”
