New Shrewsbury Racquet Club Reroof

Roof Hugger, LLC

Roof Hugger sub-purlins were used to facilitate the installation of a new standing seam metal roof and solar-collecting panels on the New Shrewsbury Racquet Club in Tinton Falls, NJ. The entire process was completed without interrupting business inside the club, while saving time and money that would have been needed to remove and replace and the old roof.

The building’s existing roof was an aging thru-fastened metal roof that had been leaking into the facility. After installing the Roof Huggers, a new 24-gauge bare Galvalume™ roof was installed. The new roof, Englert’s Series 2500, measures 61,000 sq. ft. Sitting atop the new standing seam panels is a photovoltaic solar array.

Pro-Tech Energy Solutions LLC of Branchburg, NJ designed and managed the installation of the photovoltaic solar array. Lightweight S-5! Miniclamps were chosen to secure the photovoltaic array to the new metal roof.

In addition, blanket insulation was installed in between the Roof Huggers to improve energy efficiency and to minimize the sound of rainfall that had been experienced before reroofing.

It was noted that the new roof system, insulation and solar panels are expected to save the project’s owner $49,000 in energy costs annually.

The installer on this project was FM Home Improvement of Denville, NJ.

About Roof Hugger

roof hugger logoRoof Hugger notched sub-purlins enable replacement of new metal roof panels over an old metal roof. They can be used over screw-down or standing seam roof systems and can accommodate new standing seam or screw-down panels. Roof Huggers also maintain integrity of original design loadings; achieve "thermal break" air space between old and new roof sheets; allow for optional insulation; and are laboratory and load tested—with certified load charts.
