Middle Country Library is a learning and resource center that provides the community with information, resources, and programs for all of their needs. Located in Centereach, NY, it was renovated in 2006. Two of the three sections now have a metal wall panels as an exterior, instead of the previous brink exterior. Part of the original brick was kept and is accented well by the colors of the metal shingles that were chosen.
ATAS International Inc.’s Castle Top - a product frequently used for roofing applications - was manufactured to enhance the once dull exterior of the building. Castle Top is a diamond shaped flat metal tile. This lightweight yet durable metal shingle was installed using concealed fasteners. Bulls eye Supply from Long Island, New York, was the distributor for this project. JCH Delta Contracting were the contractors working with H.H.PA, the architects, to renovate the library.
The diamond-shaped metal shingles, manufactured by ATAS International Inc., were formed using .032 aluminum. Two colors were chosen to create a pattern with the Castle Top shingles; they were Coppertone and Clear Anodized.
The Library provides the community with an up to date facility and knowledgeable staff. Renovation of the building was one of their long time goals, which was finally met in 2006. The library is continuously looking to find new ways to update their current resources and programs, and follow technological change.
