Located in Carlisle, PA, the Dawn Commons Retail Center utilizes for its construction a pre-engineered metal building system and components from Robertson Building Systems of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. The 10,000 sq. ft. building was completed in April 2007 at a cost of approximately $830,000.

John C. Brogran designed the building while Galbraith/Pre-Design Inc. served as the general contractor/erector.

One of the benefits to utilizing a clear span steel framing system for the building’s construction was that it provided the owner with the maximum flexibility to configure the building’s five interior spaces as needed.

At the base of the building’s exterior is a stone wainscot specified by the building owner. Above that, the retail center’s walls are Strukturoc stucco-textured metal panels. Tying the design together and serving as a signage backdrop is a 5’6”-tall sign band along the top of the building. The panels used for it were Robertson’s 26-gauge A-36 wall panels in a Rustic Red color. Hidden from view but as important as any other product on the building is the single-sloped, ½:12-pitched Robertson Alum-Zinc standing seam system.

According to information provided by Robertson, the Strukturoc panels were selected for the project to provide the look the look of stucco without any of the weather- and temperature-related installation limitations. The standing seam metal roof, meanwhile, was chosen for its excellent life-cycle cost advantages.
