Located in the New Orleans, Louisiana business district, 930 Poydras was designed as an urban, high-rise residential apartment complex with ground-level retail spaces for added amenities and an improved streetscape. The 462,000 sq. ft. facility, including 8,700 sq. ft. of retail space, features Formawall wall systems from CENTRIA.
The inspiration for the facility’s design come in part from the European, African and Caribbean traditions that have blended together over the years in creating New Orleans’ culture. The architects - EskewDumezRipple of New Orleans - looked to the city’s French Quarter for design inspiration to create a sense of community among 930 Poydras residents and to reinterpret the notion of a shared, yet private domain. Others involved in the project included dealer/installer F.L. Crane & Sons of Fulton, MS, and contractor Gibbs Construction, LLC of New Orleans.
Points of interest on this project include an eight-story parking garage that was built above the street-level retail spaces. Also, the ninth floor of the 21-story apartment building is used as a consolidated space for resident amenities and social activities, including a pool deck.
More than 34,400 sq. ft. of CENTRIA’s Formawall® Dimension Series® Vertical and Horizontal wall systems were used on the project. The 22/26-gauge panels feature a Blue Gray hue with an embossed finish. The coating was Sundance AM. CENTRIA’s Formavue™ FV400 Windows were also used. It was noted that CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series and integrated Formavue window system were selected for 930 Poydras because of their superior benefits in terms of performance, sustainability and aesthetics.
Formawall Dimension Series is the only wall system that provides both advanced thermal efficiency and moisture control in a single panelized component. Formawall Dimension Series only requires one installer, which makes installation simple and increases efficiency in construction. Formawall Dimension Series ensures high-quality, long-term performance. In terms of aesthetics, the panels were chosen because they provide a clean, uninterrupted appearance and unlimited possibilities in terms of form, color and texture. Formawall Dimension Series is also Cradle to Cradle® Certification at the Silver Level.
CENTRIA’s Formavue FV400 window system was used because it is designed to integrate seamlessly with Formawall Dimension Series panels, which eliminates problems in coordinating window and metal panel intersections and contributes to the overall sleek look of the facility. While Formavue window systems are aesthetically appealing, they are also weather-resistant and feature a standard thermal break.
