A 2005 evaluation of Archbishop MacDonald High School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada found both functional and cosmetic problems with the school’s 40-year-old exterior wall system. In 2010 those issues were addressed with the installation of a new aluminum composite material wall system from VICWEST. The panels were fabricated from ALPOLIC material and installed using VICWEST’s System 3 attachment system.

The evaluation had found panels damaged around the base of the building due to vandalism, and signs of water penetration during rainstorms. Maintenance to address those problems was deferred until 2010 when the school underwent major renovations to modernize the building.

In addition to the new wall system, VICWEST’s AD 300 profile metal panels were selected to wrap the school’s new soffits.

All of the project’s major players were from Edmonton, with The Workun Garrick Partnership handling the design services. The general contractor was Delnor Construction Ltd. Protostatix Engineering Consultants Inc. was the engineer, Collins Industries Ltd. was the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) fabricator; Collings Industries Ltd. was the CISC detailer; and Danco Steel Fabrication Ltd. was the erector.
