Metal Building System By Robertson Helps Designer Meet Auto Dealership's Expansion Needs

Blending elements of pre-engineered metal building and conventional construction, design firm Aecom was able to devise an expansion plan for Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac that enabled the dealership to triple in size without shutting its doors in the process. The design firm’s choice for the metal building portion of the project was Robertson Building Systems and its local authorized builder, Winvalley Contracting.

Work on the phased project, located in Whitby, Ontario, Canada, began in November 2008 and finished in April 2011. After the dust had settled the dealership has substantially more space, thanks in part to the erection of a 34,000 sq. ft. Robertson metal building system. Dan Fertile Sheet Metal of Lindsay, Ontario handled the construction. The building measured 127’ x 129’ x 20’ and has a ¼:12 roof pitch. It was topped with 24-gauge Shell White roofing panels and clad with aluminum composite metal wall panels.

Aecom is also located in Whitby.
