St. John’s On The Lake Expansion

Retirement Facility Graces The Milwaukee Skyline With Architectural Metal Products From CENTRIA

This 21-story facility is the newest addition to the Saint John’s on the Lake Community. Established in 1979, Saint John’s has been offering the utmost in cosmopolitan senior living for more than 30 years. As Milwaukee’s premier retirement community, Saint John’s offers unparalleled views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. Located directly adjacent to the waterfront, Saint John’s is a close distance to vast array of restaurants, museums, theaters and retail shops. CENTRIA products played important roles in the design of this addition.

The new tower houses 88 residences with a total of four different floor plans that range from 1,140 to 1,395 square feet. Residences are available in both one and two bedroom condominiums, each including a private terrace. In addition, the new first floor Town Centre boasts an expanded art gallery, a fitness center, bistro, and swimming/spa pools; honoring Saint John’s commitment to wellness and healthy living.

CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series was selected for its sustainability, performance and aesthetics, which reduced costs and construction time. Formawall is a premier metal wall system that provides advanced thermal efficiency and moisture protection (ATMP®) in a single panelized component making it a cost-effective solution for Milwaukee’s cold winter climate. Additionally, Formawall offers a factory foamed-in-place core, minimizing insulation gaps and contributing to an impressive R-value of 14. Due to its unique design, Formawall Dimension Series only requires one installer, improving efficiency and reducing installation costs.

In addition to superior performance and thermal protection, Formawall panels create an aesthetically pleasing, exceptionally smooth building surface with mitered corner details and a concealed fixing system that produces clean, sharp lines and corners. The contrasting Marble and Champagne Bronze colors give the facility a sleek contemporary aesthetic reflective of the new era in senior living. The panels are available in flat and embossed surface treatments and can be curved or formed into a variety of shapes for design flexibility.

Other benefits of Formawall 1000H include a factory injected polyurethane foamed core for dependable thermal performance and a thermal break between the panel face and liner for efficient ‘U’ values. The high strength steel panels offer increased spanning capabilities, saving on support costs, while airtight construction reduces energy consumption. In addition, the panels feature trimless ends, eliminating the requirement for extrusions or trims at panel joints, windows and other openings, and they offer integrated glazing, louvers and solar shading options.

The project architects were Continuum Architects of Milwaukee, WI, and Perkins Eastman of Chicago, IL; the contractor was VJS Construction Services of Pewaukee, WI; and the CENTRIA products dealer/installer was Construction Supply & Erection Inc. of Germantown, WI.
