Residential Storage Building's Panels Feature Valspar’s New WeatherXLTM Crinkle Finish

Valspar's WeatherXLTM product line is one of the most durable and proven SMP coatings on the market, so it’s no wonder Paul Gantt of Columbus, OH chose the product for his years-in-the-making storage building project.

WeatherXL™ is a silicone-modified polyester coating that offers protection from harsh environmental elements and is resistant to abrasion, chipping and marring. WeatherXL is available in both a smooth and Crinkle Finish, and when combined with multiple color offerings, provides the perfect solution for customers to meet their every project need.

When Gantt began planning for a 42-foot by 64-foot storage facility on his property in Columbus, OH, building with metal was a priority.

“After researching various storage buildings, I really liked the look of a metal building—when used on both siding and roofing material,” said Gantt. “After settling on the building product, my next concern was color. I wanted the building to complement the color of my house.”

After consulting with Valspar’s Jerry Bowman, a long-time friend of Gantt’s, he decided to use Valspar’s WeatherXL product line, specifically WeatherXL Crinkle Finish, to coat his new building.

“WeatherXL Crinkle Finish provides a great looking aesthetic and low-gloss finish, something I knew Paul was looking for,” said Bowman. “Additionally, it’s a brand new product that has proven to resist marring and etching, providing long-term durability to the building.”

North Star Metals supplied the paneling that was used on the roof and siding. When it came time for color selection, numerous samples were reviewed to ensure the building would match his existing home on the property. Burnished Slate was applied to the roof panels and Light Stone for the walls, complementing his adjacent home perfectly.

“I’m really happy with how the building turned out,” said Gantt. “Eventually, I’d love to be able to renovate the exterior of my home to reflect the same coated metal look.”

The metal panels for Gantt's building were provided by North Star Metals of Uhrichsville, Ohio.
