University of Cincinnati Campus Housing and Recreation Center

CENTRIA’s Formawall® Dimension Series® Walls Are Prominent Part Of Noteworthy Design

Thom Mayne, founder of Morphosis and the 2005 Pritzker Prize Winner, in association with KZF Design, Inc,. is one of the innovative minds behind this extremely complex facility. The University of Cincinnati Campus Housing and Recreation Center is designed as five buildings in one—an athletic core, six electronic classrooms, housing, restaurants/dining, and stadium grandstands comprise the 350,000 square foot complex.

Compared to traditional multi-component wall construction – typically requiring seven separate components including: a rainscreen, an air barrier, exterior gypsum sheathing, fiberglass insulation and a vapor barrier – CENTRIA’s Formawall® Dimension Series® only requires one component to create a wall with superior thermal efficiency and moisture control in any environment.

The architects for the project were Morphosis, Santa Monica, CA, and KZF Design, Inc., Cincinnati, OH. General contractor was Turner Construction Company, Cincinnati, OH. The CENTRIA dealer was Geiger Construction Products, Inc., Cincinnati, OH. The CENTRIA product used was Formawall® Dimension Series® in Classic Silver.
