Multiple Types Of Framing Systems By VP Buildings Used On Research Facility

The University Of Minnesota Equine Center in St. Paul, MN, is a 60,000 sq. ft. equine research facility that utilized Rigid Frame, Continuous Beam and Unibeam framing systems by VP Buildings.

In addition to using a variety of VP framing systems, special features of the $14 million facility included: 4’ x 8’ translucent skylights; clerestory roof systems for ventilation in the stable area; 12’ x 12’ cupolas with 12:12 roof pitch; piggyback canopies on all sidewalls and at the doors on the building endwalls; Moderra brick wainscote on all walls; and snow stops on all eaves.

The roof system is VP’s SLR architectural/structural standing seam profile with a Colonial Red color in a Cool Roof coating formulation. The metal wall panels are VP’s TextureClad profile in a Sand color.

The VP Buildings authorized builder was Steel Structures Inc. of Minneapolis, MN. The project was designed by Rafferty, Rafferty, Tollefson, Architects of St. Paul. The project was completed in September 2007.
