A.D. Construction of Salt Lake City, UT was awarded Building Of The Year honors in the American Buildings Company (ABC) Building of the Year Excellence in Design Award presentation for their work on the Alta High School Hawk House in Sandy, UT. The project also took top honors in the competition's Recreation category.
A.D. Construction built the new indoor sports practice facility for the district’s various athletic teams to utilize year-round. The 20,350 square-foot fieldhouse features ABC’s rigid frame and lean-to clear span framing, as well as a partial
mezzanine that in certain locations cantilevers several feet away from the building.
The main portion of the facility houses the practice field - a 50-yard by 30-yard artificial turf. A batting cage is suspended from the ceiling that can be raised and lowered as needed and an under-hung protective netting spreads around the perimeter.
The building is clad with ABC’s Architectural III wall panel system.
“The Excellence in Design Awards highlight talented professionals in the metal buildings industry,” said Carlie Smith, Marketing Director for Nucor Buildings Group. “We are inspired by all the projects entered by our skilled Builders
and roofers this year and honored to award the 2020 Building of the Year to A.D. Construction.”
The highly anticipated Excellence in Design Awards competition is open to all authorized ABC Builders and Architectural Metal Systems (AMS) Roofers. The award recognizes Builders and Roofers for their innovation, diverse application and distinction in
design in the metal buildings industry. Winners are selected by an independent panel of judges.
