Lemartec Corporation of Miami, FL was awarded the American Buildings 2025 Building of the Year Excellence in Design Award for the Baptist Health IcePlex project. The project also placed 1st in the Recreation category. Baptist Health IcePlex is a versatile, modern facility designed for the Florida Panthers hockey team and serves as a recreational resource for its local community.

This state-of-the-art complex features two regulation-sized indoor ice rinks and a dedicated training and practice center for the Panthers. Beyond its athletic trappings, the IcePlex serves as a vibrant community hub, with dedicated areas designed for public use. Tenant zones, intended for medical offices, dining, and retail outlets, create a lively atmosphere for visitors.

To enhance and maximize functional space, the interior’s design incorporates several mezzanines. The structure’s exterior features American Buildings’ Loc Seam 360 roof system formed from Galvalume and a modern, inviting façade created with a clever fusion of American’s R-panels in pearl gray and Insulated Metal Panels in slate gray. The Baptist Health IcePlex successfully unites sports, wellness, and community services under one roof.

The highly anticipated Excellence in Design Awards competition is open to all American Buildings Authorized Builders. The awards recognize Builders’ metal building projects for their innovation, diverse application, and distinction in design in the metal buildings industry. Winners are selected by an independent panel of judges.

This year, judges chose from nearly 100 entries and selected the best projects in each of the following categories: Agriculture; Auto Dealership; Church/Religious Centers; Commercial; Government/Institutional; Manufacturing/Industrial; Office; Recreation; Retail; Special Projects; Transportation; and Warehouse/Distribution.

Winners were announced for each category and top category winners were eligible to compete for the Excellence in Design top awards: Bronze, Silver, and Building of the Year.
