Couch9 is located between the Pearl and Alphabet districts in downtown Portland, Oregon. The ultra-modern apartments and penthouse homes are surrounded by a variety of restaurants, shops, arts and entertainment venues, and offering easy access to public
transit.
The building features a rooftop deck, large living spaces, and is pet friendly. This 11-story high-rise community on a half-block is filled with top-notch amenities. It has 8,000 square feet of commercial space, 137 loft-style residential units with 10’
ceilings, and two levels of underground parking. Incorporating a variety of metal wall panels into the design of the building envelope helped to create the aesthetic of iconic urban luxury.
Design Wall panels in three custom painted colors and in grey zinc (real zinc in 1mm thickness), and Versa-Lok panels in a custom painted color and in grey zinc were used on Couch9 (pronounced Kooch Nine). The custom colors were all 70% PVDF. ATAS International manufactured all these metal panels.
The Design Wall™ system is a structural panel with optional louvered style venting. It consists of a 12”-wide panel in two distinct profiles: a smooth panel and a board-style panel. Versa-Lok is a flat shingle-style wall panel, which creates
classic rectangular shapes with its versatile mix-and-match sizes. Versa-Lok is available in many sizes and can be installed directionally right to left or left to right in a horizontal or vertical orientation.
The architect for this project was Vallaster & Corl Architects, PC and the contractor was Walsh Construction. The metal wall panels were purchased through Beacon.
