DuPont has opened two new office buildings at its Chestnut Run facility in Wilmington, DE. More than 20 DuPont products are incorporated into the building’s structure, electronic systems and decor including the new DRI-DESIGN® Wall Panel System with DuPont™ Corian® EC exterior cladding.
Approximately 8,000 square feet of 0.5" DuPont™ Corian® EC panels were used in the facades of both buildings. The color of the Corian® EC panels is Glacier White, and the project features various custom-sized panels.
The DuPont and DRI-DESIGN collaboration marks the first time DuPont™ Corian® solid surface is available as the standard part of an exterior wall offering. Eight standard, textured panel patterns in a palette of 29 colors and two standard panel sizes are available from DRI-DESIGN. Custom colors, panel sizes and patterns also are available. The pressure-equalized, rain-screen characteristics of DRI-DESIGN, combined with the Corian® design flexibility, provide unlimited possibilities for designers.
“Using DRI-DESIGN® with DuPont™ Corian® EC enhances the aesthetic appeal of the two new buildings,” said Harvey Wishkoff, Site Engineering Manager, DuPont Facilities Services & Real Estate. “It also reaffirms that we stand behind the product offering.”
The project was designed by KlingStubbins, Philadelphia, and completes the DuPont Project Renaissance plan to build two modern office facilities in the Wilmington area. Sustainability is a key element of the design in both buildings and DuPont has received LEED® Gold certification for the first of the two buildings.
KBR Building Group, Vienna, VA., had responsibility for the management of all phases of construction.
Approximately 700 DuPont employees occupy Building 730, a five-story, 220,000-square-foot building that was completed in 2012. Building 735, a four-story, 170,000-square-foot structure, is scheduled to open in April 2013. DuPont Building Innovations, Packaging & Industrial Polymers, and Sustainable Solutions are a few of the businesses that have relocated to the new buildings.
DRI-DESIGN panels are 100% recyclable and can be made from a variety of materials including zinc, copper, stainless steel and painted and anodized aluminum. Panels are available in any Kynar color and are sized and detailed to meet the specific requirements of each project. This cost-effective system is Dade County and AAMA 508-07 approved.
