Originally built in 1964, East Hills Mall has been a strong economic catalyst for St. Joseph, MO, and has drawn customers from a multi-state region. But the mall had become dated looking and a major renovation was deemed critical for continued success. Hollis+Miller Architects, Lee’s Summit, MO, in collaboration with ComArts of Boulder, CO, was tapped to freshen the appearance of the 676,000 sq. ft. retail center.
Among the products utilized for the mall's redesign was approximately 14,000 sq. ft. of Citadel Envelope 2000® metal composite material (MCM). Panels fashioned from the material create appeal and highlight strategic entrances to the mall. The Citadel panels were installed using the Reveal (RV) System, a field-assembled attachment method utilizing perimeter moldings. Panel finish colors were Regal Red and Regal Blue.
The Citadel panels were installed by Seaman and Schuske Metal Works, St. Joseph. The Citadel sales representative was J.D. Day & Company, Overland Park, KS. The general contractor on the project was Walton Construction Company, Kansas City.
