Farmrite Equipment Inc., a leading Bobcat dealership and service center, partnered with Premier Door Co. to integrate a fully automated strap bifold door system into their existing metal building facility. The project highlights how thoughtful engineering and design integration can enhance both performance and efficiency in modern industrial spaces.

The custom-engineered bifold door includes a structural header designed and fabricated by Premier, ensuring proper load distribution and long-term durability. Built with heavy-duty steel framing and Premier’s exclusive helically driven strap lift mechanism, the door delivers smooth, variable-speed operation with minimal maintenance—ideal for frequent daily use in a busy equipment service environment.

The system is powered by a fully automated operator featuring electrically actuated closure arms, which provide dependable control and a tight, secure seal during every cycle. This advanced automation allows for one-touch operation, increased safety, and consistent performance—even under the demanding conditions of Minnesota’s climate.

Kingspan panels were selected and installed to the face of the door by premier’s team. Project manager Nick Schuft only recommends the Kingspan panel for finishing Premier’s strap bifold doors. It just makes sense to install the insulated panel on the exterior. The door is finished no messing around on the interior with cutouts and insulation. We also added a special touch from a local signage company for Farmrites 55th anniversary.

According to David Cox, Operations Manager at Farmrite, the decision to use Premier’s bifold system came down to in jamb design, ease of use and automation:

“All the shop guys love this door because it’s so easy to operate—you just touch the screen to open it and walk away. Premier’s bifold doesn’t require anyone to stand there holding a button, which makes it much more convenient for how often we open and close the door every day. Plus, we can adjust the straps directly from the operator instead of sending someone up on a ladder or lift. The actuated clamps that pull the door tight are impressive to watch in motion. With the touchscreen controls and all the modern features, Premier’s bifold was the only choice for us.”

Installed by Premier’s experienced factory team, the Farmrite project is a strong example of metal building design innovation, where structural integrity, automation, and craftsmanship come together seamlessly.
