GRB Academy

Training Complex's Clear Spans Created With Rigid Frame System By Varco Pruden Buildings

1848 Construction Inc. of Middleton, WI used a Rigid Frame structural system from Varco Pruden Buildings to construct the GRB Academy, an impressive indoor baseball and softball training facility in DeForest, WI.

GRB Academy was selected as a winner in the Recreation category in the 2018 Varco Pruden Hall Of Fame presentation.

Sketchworks Architecture LLC of Middleton, WI, designed the 51,840 sq. ft. recreational complex, which was completed in June 2017.

Due to the nature of the athletic activities that take place at GRB Academy, clear span framing was essential for the baseball field. Varco Pruden Buildings also supplied its Vee Rib panels for the exterior walls, as well as SSR profile roofing formed from unpainted Galvalume-coated steel.

The new GRB Academy features a full size Major League infield, 14 batting cages, six portable pitching mounds, a 6,000 sq. ft. weight room, and a pro shop. Having previously operated from a much smaller structure, the academy is known as one of the top training facilities in the region with trainers for baseball, softball, and speed and strength training.
