Flex-Ability Concepts’ Curved Cold-Formed Steel Framing Products Add Flair To Asian Buffet

The ornate design of the new Lin’s Asian Buffet in Oklahoma City, OK, relies heavily on complex radius theme elements utilizing approximately 1,200 feet of Flex-C Trac® and Flex-C Arch from Flex-Ability Concepts.

The Flex-C Trac system provides an easy way for builders to frame high quality curves by utilizing a simple, flexible metal track or plate for use with wood or metal studs.

Elaborate arches and circular ceiling applications are a trademark interior look for the Texas-based chain of restaurants. Flex-C Trac was also used to frame the curved exterior roof edges that helped create a pagoda-like appearance.

The general contractor on the project was Minnix Commercial Construction, Lubbock, TX. According to project manager Jim McMillan, Minnix has used Flex-C Trac on other similar restaurant projects. “It’s the only type of framing system that works on a job like this,” McMillan said. “The crew laid out arcs and circles on the floor and then used a laser to shoot the work points straight up. Whenever a client needs a curve or radius, it’s the product to use.”

Architectural design for the project was provided by Consolidated Architecture and Planning Services, Inc., Houston, TX. The distributor for the Flex-Ability Concepts products was Oklahoma Building Supply, Oklahoma City.
