Metal Building Systems From Varco Pruden Buildings Used To Create Kansas Manufacturing Facility

Evans Building Company Inc. of Wichita, KS designed and built a new facility in Kechi, KS for Meter Engineers, designers and fabricators of petroleum equipment. The project included four individual Rigid Frame structures from Varco Pruden Buildings that totaled more than 91,000 sq. ft.

Meter Engineers Inc. was selected as a winner in the Manufacturing category in the 2018 Varco Pruden Hall Of Fame presentation.

The main 69,580 sq. ft. building of the complex features a 45' high bay, six cranes, three mezzanines, four large hangar doors and multiple partition walls. An 11,250 sq. ft. lean-to building has a concrete stem wall. The other building sizes are 7,200 sq. ft. and 3,000 sq. ft.

Coordinating the completion of the four buildings on a tight schedule required meticulous planning and constant communication among the general contractor, subcontractors and the building owner. Radiant heat that was used in all interior floors required that the concrete slab be poured in a special way to ensure that the system and edges were properly insulated.

In addition to the steel framing systems, Varco Pruden Buildings supplied Galvalume-coated steel roof panels in their SSR profile, along with Vee Rib panels for the walls.

The Meter Engineers Inc. facility was completed in June 2017.
