Meyer Najem Construction Headquarters

Construction Company Utilizes Citadel Panels On New Headquarters

Wanting to make a statement with its new headquarters, award-winning construction firm Meyer Najem selected metal composite material from Citadel Architectural Products to be a significant part of the structure.

“Aesthetics were a major focus of this project,” says Steven Hanscom, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, senior project architect at American Structurepoint of Indianapolis. “The goal was to create an office building for a major general contractor that represented high design and detailing in a cost-effective manner.

Meyer Najem is a rapidly growing construction company in Indianapolis. American Structurepoint’s architects and interior designers collaborated with a variety of key stakeholders from the company through intensive visioning sessions and design charrettes to create a brand and corporate identity for Meyer Najem. The corporate identity is reflected in every design element of its new $6.4 million, 40,000-square-foot office building. Based on the client’s goals, vision and budget, the design team created the ideal workspace, which includes sustainably designed, open work areas with plenty of daylight. The building also allows for growth and the client’s unused space on the second floor is currently used to house other businesses.

For this project, metal panels reflected a high-tech look conveying the general contractor’s desire to be relevant, progressive and innovative in the marketplace with a durable long-lasting material. Spohn Associates of Indianapolis is a representative and installer of products for Citadel and worked on the Meyer Najem project.

“They selected a variety of products for the building,” says Eric Spohn, president of Spohn Associates. “There was some pre-cast and some masonry, so the metal composite material was a way to add some variety to the building envelope.”

Spohn Associates installed 3,618 square feet of the Envelope 2000® from Citadel Architectural Products, using the Reveal System of attachment. Envelope 2000 from Citadel is a composite panel, consisting of two aluminum skins bonded to a thermoset phenolic resin core. Standard sizes available include 8-, 10- and 12-foot lengths, in widths measuring 4 or 5 feet. It is designed for use as exterior cladding on walls, canopies, fascia and accent bands.

“We promote Citadel products to the design community as well as install the products,” Spohn says. “We introduced the architect to this system. They wanted an architectural flat panel product that wouldn’t oil can. That’s what we installed.”
