Englert Metal Roofing Tops Unique Myrtle Beach Development

Metal roofing's unique ability to blend with almost any architectural style makes it a fitting choice for almost every type of project. But it was Englert Inc.'s ability to provide roofing metal in the unusual color desired that cinched its use on the North Beach Towers development in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Sited on a 7-1/2 acre "island" between the Atlantic Ocean and White Point Swash, and featuring a spectacular oceanfront water park, the twin 18-story North Beach Towers are unprecedented and unparalleled in the Myrtle Beach area. Designed in the Georgian Architectural Style with bridged arches, the Towers are the centerpiece of a 60-acre, planned community located at the southernmost end of North Myrtle Beach.

To meet wind uplift and seismic conditions of the area, the bridged arches are connected to the two towers via large neoprene layers and steel pads. The classic Georgian style architecture of the twin towers is highlighted by an arched entrance "bridge" that joins the towers at the 3rd and 14th floors. The lower span features a casual café for full-service meals while the upper bridge is an upscale lounge/restaurant. Also in the plan is the development of low-rise living units that would save and highlight the ocean topography and trees on the “Swash.”

A Caribbean-themed pool, nearly three acres in size, includes the area’s only swim-up bar as well as personal cabanas and three separate dining facilities. The property includes an 18,000 square foot world class spa and fitness center.

Spann Roofing & Sheet Metal of Conway, SC won the contract to fabricate and install 20,000 sq. ft. of Englert metal roofing for the development's main roof, the arched bridges and the pool bar. Spann in turn tasked Englert with providing roofing coil in a Burnished Copper Penny Color, matching what the architect called “Buckeye Brown.”

Spann fabricated the 16"-wide Englert Series 2000 panels onsite and used cranes and motorized scaffolding to lift them for installation.
