Ocean Gateway is a 15,000 square-foot marine passenger terminal located in Portland, ME that accommodates the international ferry traffic between Portland and Nova Scotia. One of the goals of the Ocean Gateway project was to incorporate innovative materials and products on the terminal while continuing to embrace the historical heritage of the city's waterfront setting. Ocean Gateway, designed by BEA Architects of Miami, FL, and Winton Scott Architects of Portland, achieved this goal and received a Building of America Award which recognizes imaginative, unique, innovative and dynamic projects in New England.
The terminal features Omega-Lite® aluminum composite panels manufactured by Laminators Incorporated in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. The Bright Silver colored Omega-Lite cladding panels, supplied by Kamco Supply Corporation of Boston, were fabricated on-site and installed by Palace Construction of Litchfield, New Hampshire using Laminators’ patented Clip & Caulk™ installation system. Reed, Inc. of Woolwich, Maine was the general contractor on the project.
