Performance is the first and last word when it comes to wine storage buildings. And thanks to products from Kingspan Insulated Panels, Premium Wine Storage’s new Red Custom Crush building in Healdsburg, CA performs exactly as intended. Kingspan’s KingZip metal roofing and 300 A Azteco wall panels were both utilized for the 20,000 sq. ft. building’s construction. Those products not only protect stored inventory, but conform to food storage regulatory standards and California’s strict building codes and carbon emission standards.
Wine storage requires a strict adherence to several principles: a very stable interior environment that maintains a given temperature keeps out humidity and is ‘light-tight’. This means airtightness and weather tightness are crucially important aspects of the building. This made Kingspan products are good candidate for the project. What made them even better were Premium Wine Storage’s secondary requirements. They wanted the building to be as energy efficient as possible. Given California’s status as a leader in green building codes and carbon emissions standards, sustainability and the building’s carbon footprint could not be ignored.
These systems used together created the high-performance building envelope crucial to the success of this facility. They provided a stable internal environment with respect to maintaining a consistent temperature, airtightness and weather tightness. These panel systems also provided a high degree of design flexibility to allow them to create a facility that has a high level of aesthetics.
Installation Process to Full Project Details
Premium Wine Storage was seeking the best value for the construction of their Red Custom Crush facility. Kingspan IMPs provided another significant advantage – simplified installation. As a single component system, Kingspan IMPs increase build speed, minimize construction delays and require fewer trades. These advantages can result in installation times being reduced by up to 50% compared to traditional multi-part systems.
“I actually use a wide range of Kingspan U.S. products,” said Marc Davis, who installed the panels for the Red Custom Crush project. “I always choose to make the commitment to Kingspan for the durability. Even Kingspan’s base-line products are good-looking, especially their architectural products that have an aesthetic appeal, and all Kingspan’s products are easy to install.”
Architectural services for the Red Custom Crush building were provided by Tim Lafranchi at Lafranchi Architecture & Development.
