The new Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago is comprised of an imposing eight-story tower linked to a pair of low rise wings clad with prePATINA blue-gray roof and wall panels from RHEINZINK America Inc.

The Logan is the result of more than 10 years of planning, design and construction. The idea for the low rise, sky-lit structure of studios and performance and exhibit space linked with a tower of the arts was influenced by the flat prairies of the Midwest and the great skyscrapers of Chicago. The 30,000 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK prePATINA blue-grey roof and wall panels on the wings are meant to complement the masonry and reintroduce the color of nearby Lake Michigan.

Panels for the 1.5” Double Lock Standing Seam roof system and Single Lock wall cladding system were fabricated by RHEINZINK’s system partner, Morin Corporation, Bristol, CT. Morin also provided engineering and weathertightness warranty for the systems. The low building is lit by north facing skylights to provide natural light for studios, classrooms and public spaces. The roof includes an extensive array of solar PV panels.
