Robertson Metal Building Serves Diverse Functional Needs Of Regina-Based Auto Dealer

While the pair of orange-painted frameworks in front first draw the eye, it is the building behind that's essential to meeting the varied operational needs of its occupant, Taylor Motors. Within the confines of the 18,612 sq. ft. home, located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Taylor Motors manages a used car business, an auto body shop and a lease car franchise.

In contrast to the painted orange frames, the essence of the building’s construction is far less obvious. It has a conventional appearance but was constructed with a metal building system manufactured by Robertson Building Systems of Ancaster, Ontario. The company’s authorized builder on the project, Van Alstine Project Management Inc. of Regina, bested five other firms for the contract to design and build the $3.3 million project. Design services were provided by Brownlee Beaton Kreke, also of Regina.

The building measures 108’ wide x 172’ long and has a 22’6” eave height. It is topped with a ½:12-pitched, 24-gauge standing seam metal roof in a Polar White color. Portions of the structure were clad with Robertson’s PBA profile metal wall panels, formed from 26-gauge steel, also with a Polar White paint finish.

The building was erected by Tourond Construction Ltd. of Regina. Work on the project began in November 2009 and was completed in November 2010.
