More than 10,000 sq. ft. of Citadel metal composite material (MCM) panels in two installation systems were used on The Metropolitan Shadyside, a new 42-unit luxury condominium project located in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh. The distinctive six-story building was crafted to meet the specific needs of high-end condominium buyers.

Designed by the Pittsburgh engineering/architectural firm Astorino, The Metropolitan Shadyside utilizes Citadel’s Envelope 2000® Rout and Return (RR) System as well as Citadel’s Reveal (RV) System. The panels were finished in Clear Anodized.

“It’s somewhat unusual to see a job that uses more than one Citadel system,” said John Hyde, project manager with East Coast Metal Systems, Bellaire, OH. East Coast Metal Systems fabricated the Rout and Return panels. “It was an effective use of the two systems,” according to Hyde. “The Rout and Return panels were used for column covers, beam wraps and the tall cornices at the top of the building. The RV system was used on the long wall applications and the balcony step backs. It’s an upscale residential complex that turned out gorgeous.”

Mohawk Construction & Supply Company, McMurray, PA, fabricated the Reveal panels and installed both systems used on the project. “One of the benefits of the RV system panels is that they’re fabricated right at the site,” said project manager Mark Viehman.

The construction manager on the project was P.J. Dick, Incorporated, West Mifflin, PA. The Citadel sales representative was Brad Bridges, R.J. Bridges Corporation, Carnegie, PA.
