Developers had their reasons for naming a new apartment building on North High Street in Columbus, OH "Uncommon", but in all likelihood, it had nothing to do with the exterior look. Like so many of today's trendy multi-unit residential buildings, it is
clad in part with aluminum composite metal wall panels; in this case from Laminators Inc. of Hatfield, PA.
Uncommon's units offer premier amenities—designer furnishings, in-unit washer/dryer, quartz countertops, 50” SMART TV with cable; while shared features include an outdoor courtyard and pool deck with a hot tub, club room with a billiards table,
24-hour health/fitness center, study lounges with private work stations and computer bar, to name a few. Combined, the development offers residents the opportunity to live a lifestyle far from ordinary. The building is also ideally situated within
walking distance of The Ohio State University campus as well as many restaurants and shops.
General contractor Elford Construction in Columbus, OH completed construction in 2018. Among the materials used for the build was 26,000 sq. ft. of Laminators Incorporated Omega-Lite® ACM panels, installed using the panel manufacturer's proprietary
1-Piece, Tight-Fit Molding installation system. Architect Humphreys & Partners, Chicago, IL selected Slate Grey and Bone White PVDF/Kynar 500® panel colors to match the welcoming and energetic modern theme.
Omega-Lite ACM panels offer a highly decorative, strong, and durable surface finish for exterior wall surfaces. Composed of a polypropylene, light-weight corrugated core between two finished aluminum sheets, these panels are non-absorbent, water-resistant
and easy to maintain.
Omega-Lite installed with the 1-Piece, Tight-Fit system guaranteed the Uncommon Columbus apartments a class A fire rating as well as met NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 285, Miami-Dade County Product Control and Florida Product Approval
requirements. Laminators Inc. manufactures high quality ACM panels that meet these stringent performance levels and provide design professionals and building owners the confidence that their cladding will withstand the most extreme conditions.
