Allentown, PA - ATAS International, Inc. has been named a finalist in the Community Impact Category for the 2014 Governor’s ImPAct Awards.
The Governor’s ImPAct Awards Program recognizes Pennsylvania companies and/or individuals who are generating more jobs and investing in the state to ensure a prosperous future. The Governor’s ImPAct Awards were given by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, The Team Pennsylvania Foundation (Team PA), and the Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) on May 30, 2014.
ATAS International was chosen as a Lehigh Valley finalist in the Community Impact Category, which recognizes companies that adhere to the philosophy of “doing well by doing good.” Companies who receive this acknowledgement have proven their dedication in fostering employees and pursuing progress.
Community involvement has always been an integral part of the business with both Dick Bus, President of ATAS, and Jim Bus, VP, continually searching for ways to help the Lehigh Valley thrive. Dick, his wife Peg, and Jim have continued to keep the community a priority with heavy involvement in local Boy Scouts Troops and the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, providing scholarship support to local inner-city elementary schools, and being an active supporter of Learning for Life Explorers. Dick is also heavily involved with the Da Vinci Science Center, helping to spread the word about the innovation and opportunities in technology. Working with the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, ATAS also provides internship opportunities to those with an interest in manufacturing careers.
Peg Bus, head of Human Resources at ATAS, is passionate about getting the company involved in local events. Whether it’s participating in local marathons, being a drop off station for the Project Keep Warm Coat Drive, or sponsoring Breast Cancer walks, Peg ensures that ATAS offers assistance in any way possible.
The company strives to raise awareness on the importance of giving back, inspiring employees and enhancing their community to go the extra mile to make Pennsylvania a better place to be.
