Simpson Strong-Tie Introduces Connector For Attaching Steel Studs To Concrete Supports

Pleasanton, CA - Simpson Strong-Tie, supplier of engineered structural connectors, has expanded its lineup of rigid connector angles with the addition of the RCA-C, for attaching cold-formed steel (CFS) stud framing to concrete supports.

The RCA-C provides a choice of anchor options, including holes for a 1/2"-diameter anchor screw or bolt, or for two 1/4"-diameter concrete screws.

The Simpson Strong-Tie family of rigid connector angles include general-purpose clip angles designed for a wide range of cold-formed steel construction applications. With prepunched holes for fastener attachment, these L-shaped clips are designed to save time and labor on the job and can be used for miscellaneous header/sill connections to jamb studs, jamb stud reinforcement at track, u-channel bridging, stud blocking, bypass curtain-wall framing, joist connections and other applications.

Fabricated from G90 galvanized steel for enhanced resistance to corrosion, additional features of the RCA-C include:

- 2" x 2" legs for room to make attachments to structure and stud framing

- Multiple screw pattern options for different load rating options on stud framing

- Prepunched holes for attachment of screws to stud framing and concrete

- A range of load applications—the connector can be used either to form a heavy-duty shear and tension connector or to form a light-duty moment connection

Prepunched holes on the RCA-C anchor leg provide options for attachment to concrete or masonry, which can be achieved with 1/2" Titen HD® or Strong-Bolt® anchors or 1/4" Titen HD or Titen Turbo™ anchors.
