T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas

CENTRIA

Located just a block away from the Las Vegas Strip, T-Mobile Arena embodies the elements of its host city. With the bustling nightlife of the Strip to its east and the mountains and sprawling desert to the west, T-Mobile Arena is the perfect venue to stand in the heart of Las Vegas. A giant mesh wall with a bright magenta 9,000 square-foot LED display overlooks the area between New York-New York and Monte Carlo. The LED board represents the city’s energy, while the building’s metallic skin - created with products from CENTRIA - resembles the burnt golden hues of the desert that the town is built on.

The LED overlay shines over the two-acre Toshiba Plaza, which frequently hosts pre-event functions and special events. The building also features premium balconies on all VIP and public levels with views to both the plaza and the Strip.

The north and east sides of the 650,000 square-foot venue act as a gateway to the city with windows of the Las Vegas Strip. Meanwhile, the south and west sides of the building are window-free in an effort to reflect the sun during hot Las Vegas summers that typically surge past 100 degrees.

The building’s interior is just as dynamic as its exterior. The arena adapts to seat anywhere from 12,000 to 20,000 people depending on the event, while 44 luxury and eight event level suites remain constant to provide the extravagant experience that guests expect when visiting Las Vegas.

The multi-purpose venue is a joint venture between AEG and MGM Resorts International and is estimated to stage between 100 and 120 events each year.

As the saying goes, “Las Vegas wasn’t built on the backs of winners.” But with over 217,000 square feet of CENTRIA products—including over 136,000 square feet of MetalWrap Long Span Series backup panels—T-Mobile Arena is backed by winning metal wall products.

The multi-purpose arena required metal wall products that could not only withstand the hot desert weather but also provide exciting aesthetics for the wide variety of events the facility hosts, from the biggest names in music, major UFC and boxing events and basketball games. But there is even bigger news on the horizon for T-Mobile Arena, which will soon be the home of the Golden Knights, the NHL’s newest franchise.

MetalWrap Long Span Series insulated composite backup panels feature a single component. The MetalWrap system provides thermal, air, water and vapor barriers in a composite assembly to maintain comfortable atmospheres in events from the Country Music Awards to the NCAA PAC 12 men’s basketball tournament.

Designed with CENTRIA's innovative ATMP® (Advanced Thermal and Moisture Protection) building envelope technology, MetalWrap backup panels feature integral attachment systems—including the MR-100 and MR-300 rail systems as well as integral clips, pintles and/or masonry anchors—for metal, terra cotta, ACM panels, brick facades and other rainscreens, making it the perfect choice for mixed-medium exteriors. MetalWrap Long Span is available for projects that require backup panels in spans greater than 24 inches and can be installed both horizontally and vertically.

Architects paired the innovative backup panel system with custom bronze shingles by dealer/installer Crown Corr Inc., creating a building envelope that provides the best in performance and aesthetics.

CENTRIA’s Versawall insulated metal panels in Flaxen Gold complement the custom bronze shingles, while providing advanced thermal and moisture performance in a single component. Additionally, the facility showcases over 27,000 square feet of CENTRIA’s EcoScreen perforated screenwalls creating a fascinating mesh façade to control light passing through the curtainwall exterior.

The architect was Populous of Kansas City, MO. Contractors were Hunt Construction Group of Scottsdale, AZ and PENTA Building Group of Las Vegas, NV. The CENTRIA products dealer/installer was Crown Corr Inc. of Gary, Ind. Additional CENTRIA products dealer was Architectural Systems Inc. of New York, NY. Valspar paint finishes are also featured on this project, which was completed in April 2016.
