Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. is a leader in anti-aging and skin care products and research. As part of their commitment to research and innovation, the company invested $100 million in an Innovation Center in Provo, UT. The center – which used metal products from CENTRIA - reflects the modern sensibilities of the global company and houses research laboratories, conference spaces, a retail storefront, executive offices, two cafés, and a data center in a series of elegant, light-filled spaces.

The Innovation Center is comprised of a three-story building to the north; a six-story building to the south; and a four-story atrium linking the new buildings to each other and to the existing Nu Skin office tower. The exterior is composed of transparent volumes anchored by sleek, metal-clad core spaces. Sunshades along the south elevation shade the interior spaces from direct sunlight and crowning the south building is an airfoil-shaped mechanical penthouse. LEED Gold Certification was pending for this building at the time of this writing.

CENTRIA’s products were chosen specifically for their unique modern aesthetic, excellent performance and high level of environmental sustainability.

CENTRIA’s IW Series metal panels offer concealed fasteners for a clean, unbroken aesthetic in a variety of stucco embossed or smooth finishes. The panels also feature a common lock-joint design that makes interesting visual effects possible and are an excellent option for both new construction and retrofit projects.

With the ability to install the panels year-round no matter what the weather, installation time is shortened, permitting fast-track scheduling. In addition, IW Series panels can be installed vertically or horizontally.

Architects also used Ecoscreen Econolap panels to achieve the unique look that they desired. Through the use of a unique fabrication process, EcoScreen perforated screen walls combine an airy aesthetic with outstanding performance, blending industrial and other applications with their surroundings or creating one-of-a-kind aesthetic elements. In addition, EcoScreen panels may be installed horizontally or vertically.

The architect for this training center project was Bohlin Cywinski Jackson of Seattle, WA. The CENTRIA products dealer/installer was Steel Encounters Inc. of Salt Lake City, UT. The contractor was Okland Construction of Salt Lake City, UT.
