Comanche Springs Elementary School was designed and built as part of a two-building project for the Eagle Mountain Saginaw Independent School District in Ft. Worth, TX. Sharing the same campus is the also new Prairie Vista Middle School. Both schools were designed by VLK Architects, which has offices in Arlington and Houston, TX. The buildings are visually similar and each is topped with 200 Series standing seam roofing from Architectural Building Components.

The 200 Series is ABC's most versatile roof panel. It features a 2”-tall rib that's mechanically seamed in the field with an electric seamer in either a single lock (90-degree) or double lock (180-degree) fold. The latter was used on Comanche Springs' 16"-wide, 24-gauge Weathered Zinc-colored panels.

In addition to being suitable for installation over open purlins or solid decking, on slopes as low as 1/2:12, Series 200 panels can be produced in the plant or on the jobsite in lengths up to 200' using one of the company's ARCHZILLA portable fabrication trucks. The panels can also be curved to a radius as tight as 20’ and offer outstanding performance in high-wind conditions.

Ratliff Constructors was the project's general contractor and R & B Roofing was the metal roofing installer. Both companies are headquartered in Dallas, TX. For outstanding design, construction and craftsmanship, the project received an ABC Job of the Month award for September 2007.
