Phoenix, a Houston-based horizontal and directional drilling company, built a new facility that required large areas unobstructed by support columns in their 112,500 square foot building. Metal systems construction from Mid-West Steel Building Company met that requirement.
To meet the company's needs, the patented Long Bay framing system was used to create 65’ interior bays. Long Bay had previously been used to create 60’ interior bays. For the Phoenix project, engineers were able to design a structure that would accommodate 65’ clear span bays, a first for the Long Bay system.
Roof panels were Double-Lok® on a ½:12 roof slope. Endwall and sidewalls were PBR panels and tilt wall construction.
Clay Development and Construction was the general contractor and designer. Amalda Enterprises was the erector and roofing contractor.
This project was a 2014 Mid-West Design Build Excellence Award winner.
