Turtle Back Zoo, in Essex County, New Jersey, is dedicated to educating the public about the beauty and importance of wildlife, and measures that can be taken to preserve and protect it.
The Zoo features a Reptile House, an otter exhibit, an alligator exhibit, eagle, and bobcat exhibits, and many more. Turtle Back also has a gift shop, and a picnic and playground area within the zoo. In June 2006, Turtle Back Zoo unveiled their long- awaited Reptile House. This new building includes new full sized exhibits, a facts area, viewing windows, and a spacious walk through area.
ATAS International Inc.’s metal wall panels were used in the construction of the new exhibit hall. Three styles of metal wall panels were used to make the building look more contemporary and appropriate for its purpose. ATAS International Inc.’s Dutch seam was used. The Dutch Seam used was 22-gauge steel and Dove Grey was the chosen color for this panel (one of ATAS International Inc.’s standard colors). More than 3,000 square feet of this material was used.
Another panel used was ATAS International Inc.’s Castle Top. Castle Top is a diamond shaped flat metal single with a measure of 15 ¾”x 15 ¾”. This material was used on the front of the building. These diamond shaped metal shingles were made with .032 aluminum, in ATAS International Inc.’s premium finish color, silversmith.
A third wall panel used was ATAS International Inc.’s Corrugated Panel. Two of ATAS International Inc.’s standard colors were used with this panel type; they are Forest Green and Bone White. This panel was also used on the front of the building.
Clarke, Caton, Hintz, PC designed the project, and Cippolini Roofing was the contractor for Turtle Back’s Reptile House. The distributor was Allied Building Products in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
